About This Scholarship
The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program was established in 1999 by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The goal is to promote academic excellence and provide opportunities for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential.
Eligibility Requirements
- African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American
- Entering college as a first-time, full-time freshman in fall term
- Cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Demonstrate significant financial need (Pell Grant eligible)
- Demonstrated leadership through community service or extracurriculars
- U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident
